Studio A in Sydney supports the work of artists living with intellectual disability, helping them achieve their artistic and economic aspirations.
Artists working with Studio A have access to a fully-equipped studio space and support staff, as well as weekly workshop run by invited established artists. The Studio A artists work in a range of mediums and their work is strategically marketed to a diverse range of art, design, craft and corporate markets.
Studio A operates as a social enterprise and revenue raised by its activities is reinvested in the program; however, income generated by the sale of artwork benefits the artists directly. The studio supports the artists' sense of belonging, self-esteem and future aspirations, and reduces the stigma associated with disability in the wider community.
Liberty has supported Studio A for more than a decade. Studio A artists regularly design and make the decorations for the Liberty Christmas party.
Liberty Art Awards
Since 2020, we’ve partnered with Studio A for the Art Awards. Each year, four emerging Studio A artists are selected to participate, and work hard to develop nine vibrant artworks.
